About the Artwork
This Thai temple mural wall art tells a scene from the Suvannasama Jataka, one of the Ten Great Birth Stories. Sama lived in the forest caring for his blind parents, and each day he walked to the stream to fetch their water. Because of his gentleness toward all living things, the deer walked beside him without fear. Here he carries two red clay pots in an ochre robe, passing spotted deer on his way to the water, with a leaf-roofed hut on the left and malachite and indigo trees above. It holds the quiet, tender moment before the story reaches the king's arrow. Painted in traditional Thai mural style on a soft, matte cream ground, the horizontal format suits a living room, the wall above a sofa or a prayer room. Printed as a giclée fine art print on fine art paper, with soft matte colour and fine detail.
